Shaving gels help to lubricate the blade of the razor
over your skin giving you a closer, smoother shave.
Shaving gels also help to reduce razor burn which can
be painful and unsightly. Most shaving gels will also
contain conditioning properties to help your skin stay
moisturised during and after the shave.
Shaving gels come in many types, so to find the one
which suits you it is best to look at the individual
products. There are ones for sensitive skin,
mentholated, unmentholated and all different sorts of
features.
Which ever shaving gel you decide to use the basic way
to use it will remain similar. The best way to shave is
after your shower, when you bristles will have softened
in the steam. Then make sure the area you want to shave
is thoroughly wetted with warm or hot water. Massage
the shaving gel thoroughly into the area you are going
to shave. Make sure you have a decent, clean, sharp
blade then shave slowly using short strokes, rinsing the
blade often in hot water. It is best to shave with the
grain in the direction of the hairs growth, if you go
against the grain then do so at the end and only if you
have to. As always it is best to check the directions
of each individual product to make sure you are getting
the most out of it.
When you have finished shaving it is best for your skin
if you follow the shave by washing with a face wash,
rinse and pat dry with a clean towel. Then complete the
experience by applying a facial moisturiser. For
